Model: Cooper 1.3 SPI
Year: 1995

I've just bought a new alternator for my SPI - I want to replace the alternator belt as well when I fit it but I can't see how to get the existing belt off (there's another belt which runs from the same spindle which drives the alternator belt which prevents you from being able to).

Presumably I have to take the other pulley off, but how? I can't see how it's fixed on!

Thanks for any help!

O

2 drive belts ? means that you have airconditioning....

normally remove belt from pulley and slip it over the fan blades...

I do have air con - it's a Japanese import (very civilised but it makes changing the alternator belt impossible!!)

I am sure that you can remove the first belt and the second can simply slip over ? can you get a photo up here ?? The last A/C Mini I worked on was an auto, but we didn't need to touch the belts, as we were fitting a new transmission.

Thanks for clearing that one up! The whole notion of two belts on a mini had me rather confused! :)

You may have to take your belt to the parts shop with you. I believe it will be a different size than what they list for a 95 MINI. I doubt they would have JAP market parts listed.

I need deperate help please. I found this forum while trying to find the belt for my 1994 Mini Automatic SPI with A/C. I need the 2 belts that are shaped like a V not flat belt. All the ones we have ordered have come back as a flat belt and they are calling them a V belt. I saw where someone posted that UKR Transmissions was able to help them. Does anyone have the email adress seeing as my phone cant call the UK. I never put International calling on my phone :genius: It is getting hot here in Florida I so need to get the A/C running. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi,
Have you tried these guys yet? They advertise Minis with air conditioning for sale and they claim to sell parts.

Thanks for the info. We know Malcolm from Classic Mini Coopes he is awesome. I found the Minis of Miami great thanks for that link. They had some great parts on there.
