Hello
The front skirt on my Cooper has a number of rust holes in it so I would like to cut it off and weld on a new one. I have been told that these are not available individually and that you can only obtain the whole front panel. This seems ridiculous! Is it true?

True i am afraid  but if this part is rusted through the rest is not far behind , best to replace the whole panel , that way you dont get any "non-factory" joints that will rust faster than the surounding panel .
the whole front panel is not expensive  luckily for us mini owners

Thanks. Thats a shame though as the car has been waxoiled from new and most of the structure is very good. I was hoping to keep as much of the original Rover metal as possible. I suppost this means I ve got to separate the panel from the wings. More work...pass the welder! Thinking about it, what about the back skirt,is that a separate panel?

Yes the rear valence is a seperate panel , that is a god thing as it is a rust trap !
