Hi after much deliberation about which interface to buy for my central locking that will open my the doors remotely by using the Rover keypad without having to use key [ there are several on the market and was not sure which one applied to my kit.] I discovered that my system was the wood and pickett but upon wiring this up it just blows the Alarm module fuse everytime. Ive checked and re checked all connections.. anybody have any solutions or experience with this? The guy at wp is as nonplussed as me...

I've got the £20 ebay kit (same thing) - but I have never had any problems. Nor have I heard of anyone having this problem. Are you shorting out anywhere and where have you taken you live from?

the central locking on the key works fine, the interface [which im having the problem with] does not have a live as such- its wired into the central locking harness , as per instruction . I've checked for shorts and exhausted everything. The black wire on the interface goes to the black wire on the central locking harness, then 2 wires to each of the locking motors. If you mean the power for the central locking unit-- Gosh I cant remember where I took that from it was years ago but IT works fine. IM thinking it has something to do with the wires that go to alarm module behind the dash as the fuse blows for this when I have pressed button on keypad- 5 fuses so far. All dosconnected now - given up on it!

Thanks for your input anyway but seems there is no way forward on this one!

On my interface the black wire is the earth.

But the interface should have 5 wires - 1 earth, 2 to the alarm ECU and 2 to the c/l harness.

Are you sure they are all into right place? What colours are the wires?

yes defo, ive checked and double checked, this is in fact the second time I tried fitting as the first time I tried couple of weeks back I had to call out Rac and with his help eventually found the fuse which had blown so, this time [after making sure I had the correct wp central locking kit with the guy in brighton yesterday as I thought this maybe why fuse was blowing] I tried again but alas same problem , just blows the 20amp fuse. I can post the instructions up

Sounds like you have extra juice in the loom for it to blow fuses.

You triple checked the wiring?

Why have you opened another identical thread to the one you opened another day ago?

It's easy to get 11 and 13 in the wrong pins.

I'd take it all out and start again.

hehhee, I had 2 attempts at fitting the kit and thought I was at fault somehow when the fuse went and had to call out RAC- he and me took a while to find the damn fuse! I went over and over checking connections. The wp kit is about ten years old, different type maybe.. dunno

mmm did that and started again .. same scenario- just blows fuse, maybe ill try changing the said wires around as instructions might be wrong.

It does mention a white wire in the instructions that isnt used on the interface- there is no white wire on the interface I have
