Yes it's perfectly possible to change the oil on a Mini without jacking it up. The sump plug is near the front of the Mini, so it's quite easy to lie on the ground, stick your arms underneath and undo it.

i find that it you cut an old oil containers side off you can slide it underneath and do it that way

If your mini is especially low use a kerb edge or similar to get the required height..... don't forget to put the left side on the kerb so as to drain the oil easier and better ;)

Go to el chepo shop, buy a large plastic container.

Cut 85% of it, job done. Best oil tray I ever had. No jacks, stands, just slide it under and undo the sump plug.

i've actually got some big plastic bakers trays which sit under the engine no probs, usually have one under there when i'm doing anything as something is bound to fall or slip out your hands, much easier to slide a big tray out than try to scratch around the floor ;)
(just need to remember not to pick up the one with a crack in it like i did when i was changing the coolant wondering why so little was coming out!!)

The first time I changed my oil I thought I was nice and prepared and ralised I forgot to get a tray. I found a container that I thought was big enough.... you can guess the rest.

I now have a proper oil drain tray haha!
