Hi, I have an Austin mini and when the engine is turned off, an orange light on the right hand side of the fuel gauge/temperature gauge remains.

When I turn the key to the first position, its red and on the left hand side.

When I start the engine, no lights show.

It's the orange light that I'm worried about. Can anybody tell me what it is, and why it stays there even when the engine is off?

------

Perhaps it's related, but after two weeks sitting in my garage, she wouldn't start despite the fact shes had a brand new battery fitted. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Charlie

the orange light is a low oil pressure warning light, and should go out within one or two seconds of starting the engine, obviously when the engine isnt running there will be no oil pressure and the light will be on.. And should be off when the key is out of the ignition.
