Wondering if anyone can lighten my spirits!

Bought a 998cc Mini Mayfair Automatic yesterday... and i'm wondering if i made a mistake!

I am used to driving a 1275 manual mayfair so I was expecting for it to feel slower but it's really bugging
me when I pull off at a snails pace!

the car is absolutely beautiful but i really can't get on with the speed haha!

Anyone had the same feeling going from a manual to auto / 1275 to 998

thanks!

Hi,

I drive a 998 automatic all the time. They are noticeably slower than 1275s (manual or auto) but aren't that bad. You'll soon get used to it. Manually changing through the gears 1-2-3-D may be a bit quicker for you - try it.

You might also find that a service/tune-up will help, maybe even a rolling road session. If you definitely want it a bit quicker go for a stage 1 kit, up to 20% more power for around £200.

Enjoy! And make sure you join The Automatic Mini Register!

Thanks!

... it hasn't recently been serviced so i have already booked it in for a service this thursday. I'm hoping this will make a difference ;)

And i tried going up through the gears and it has made a big difference so thankyou

It's going to take some getting used to but i use it every day for work so i should get used to it soon enough! i hope so because it is an amazing car..

Wow! Your mini looks great. You must be really pleased with it. Hopefully a service will sort out your problems.

I see your quite close to me, whereabouts in Nottingham are you? I might see you around.

Hi Amy

I'm not with a club at the moment because I mainly work unsociable hours (evenings and weekends). I have tagged along with Robin Hood Mini Club on occasion though.

There are two clubs that are probably closer to you; Notts About Minis and Derbyshire Classic Mini Owners Club. You may like to check these out.

Let us know how you get on with the mini after its service.

Lovely car. Speed might not be brilliant with big fat wheels like that. They will no doubt have effectively raised the gearing and a greater contact patch from the width saps more power also.

Thanks

Well drove the car for work this morning and it drove alot faster than it did yesterday! however, came home down the m1 and it seemed to lose it's power again and started pulling off really slow again.

When i bought the car i was told it's been standing for 10 months so i'm wondering if it is slowly clearing everything out? hmm i dont know but only one more day before the service! also having the engine set as my dad seems to think that may have something to do with it.

thanks again for all your advice!
