Hi,

I Have a set of 12 x 6 polished rim Minilights.

The spoked area is sprayed silver and flaking so i plan to strip this back and repaint.

but my question relates tothe polished rim. This is quite heavily pitted from brake dust and dirt from being outside for 8 years or so.

What is the best way to remove the pitting and restore the shiney polished rim? The wheels used to look amazing but dont now!

Am i right in thinking that i just need to remove the pitting with wet and dry paper and then smooth rim with decreasing coarseness of wet and dry until very smooth then polish rims with metal / Ali polish?

Any help much apprecaited,

Cheers,

Ed

Hi mate i suppose it depends on how bad the pitting is and how deep its eaten in to the ali. If its not to bad then the way you have described is the way forword. Just remember to work your way through diffrent grades of wet and dry to get the perfect finish/shine

If its quite deep, will it just require further and coarser rubbing down or does it then need to be professional reground? I'll see if I have a picture later today
