A weber DCOE 40, on a 998? Don't think it would suit it mate! But it depends what inlet you go for, swan neck or straight neck. a swan neck will allow you to install it without bulkhead adjustments.
Have seen a few small bores with weber 40's, but they're heavily modified. Most of the time overbored with lumpy cams. A swan neck manifold will allow fitment without cutting anything, as already stated.

its not actualy a 998 its a 1030 beacuse we havehad to rebore it

Ok a carburettor is designed to supply enough fuel / air mixture for your engine, if th ecarburettor can supply enough for 150bhp and your engine will only ever get to 80bhp then fitting it will almost always be a waste..... much better to fit a carburretor that is better suited to your requirements.
So what is your engine spec ? bore size alone is not enough information to make a good assement..

sorry cant give any more info as it as not been done yet as we are only just started the full resto and just looked at the engine and we only know we have to +40 bore
