Hi all, i was just wondering whether or not an A+ crankshaft could be used in an A series engine? I'm guessing not as the bearings shells are sold for either A series or A+ engines.
Thanks, Evan.

Yes of course it fits! The shells match the block - not the crank as far as A/A+ is concerned......

Also i must mention that you Cooperman know your way around the A series engine with rallying etc and always seem to have helpful suggestions too.

As above the cranks are interchangable between A and A+ but the Cooper S crank isnt,
unlikly you'd have an S crank though and they are easy to spot as they have 1" 5/8 bigend journels ranther than the 1" 3/4 of the A & A+ cranks.

And are the finest cranks ever made for the Mini, even better than 'billet' cranks. They were all nitrided by Rolls-Royce too, which is why the Cooper 'S' lost BMC money on every one sold, and that is before adding in the warranty claims which they all had back then!
