Could someone please tell me what side rod numbers go to when fitting rods into the block.Numbers to camshaft side?? Pistons were not removed from pistons. Thanks.

In my first post about conrod numders it should have read,did not remove piston from the rod.

If on original pistons then there is often an A stamped into the crown.
the tip of the A points to the front (ie waterpump) end of the engine.

The pistons are plus .040" oversize, aftermarket. They don't have a diamond stamped on the crown.

OK assuming they dont have a thrust side. usually you have it so the numbers can be read if you look along the block from #1 towards #4
else if they are in line to the gudgeon pin, then they can be read when looking at them from the distributor side..

Thanks Dave, your right. If you look at the pin end of the rod the boss is offset & on piston 1&2 the offset has to line up ( face each other ) same for 3 & 4 & that makes the numbers line up facing the distributor side. Thanks again Dave.
