Anyone know what kirkey seats would fit into a mini and if they need supporting at the back?

is 20 degree layback too much to a road use car?

Cheers

I've seen them in a mini, are you sure you want a set, not the most comfortable or user friendly.

They are generally considered short track race use only.

Its going to be used as a sprint/road car and i dont want the usuall cobra or corbeau road bucket seat, and the next stage up is a fibreglass backed seat whick are rather expensive.

You can get covers for them too

As timinichelsea has already said, they are not suitable at all for road use.
A sprint car is best to be trailered there, if you ******* it up you're walking home.

There is no reason why a sprint car has to be trailered there, everyone used to drive to the events and then drive home thats the idea of a road car is it not?
if the car is set up correctly then it wouldnt blow up or whatever you said. Back in the day thats what everyone used to do with road car classes.

Ive brought the seats and some padded covers theve come today and there going to be used in a car that will be driven on road and for sprint events. There a cheap alternative to a fibreglasses back seat.

I have one in my car, with a cover, and theres absolutely no issue daily driving the car. It's also lowered on fairly stiff suspension. It's a harsh ride, but I've sat in the passenger seat with my brother driving, and i find it less comfortable than the kirkey. Make sure you position it best for your driving style obviously, one thing i'd say is get something for lumbar support for road trips, I haven't gone more than an hour in it yet, and would imagine I'd want something like that. I don't know what degree layback mine is, part number 18400?
EDIT: I've just got brackets at the side mounts, not extra back support, and it's solid, I don't know what kind of regs you're dealing with though.

I've got one in my hill climb car which I do drive on the road occasionally.. With padding I would say it is probably more comfortable than a previous sparco bucket seat I had. You will have to support the seat back.. :o one thing to note is that they are made for LHD vehicles so the side support on your RHD door side is slightly larger making it a mission to get in the car... But once in it's great. Additional bonus is that they don't have an expiry date like normal Competition spec seats.

can you not devise a system that allows you to remove the drivers seat quickly and effortlessly to make it interchangeable so to speak and drive to the event with a "standard" seat and then swap it for the "race" seat once there?

sticking the race seat on the back seat for the mission there.. just a thought.
