Ash I have these Wheel Centres and they're like yours were, a bit scuffed and tatty, can I ask what you did? which paint you used and did you then coat them in anything afterwards?...

Loveeee your thread and adore your car!!

If they aren't pitted they should clean up ok, all i did was lightly scrape off most of the crud that was on them without scratching the chrome plating, then i scraped off all the paint, most of the paint was flaking off anyway so it come off quite easy.
Then i give them a polish with metal polish, again go steady as you will polish through the plating. I repainted them with Humbrol Enamel paint, use a very fine brush, if you go over the edge just leave it to dry and just scratch the excess off with a knife. I didn't coat them with anything afterwards, when the car is finally finished all i will do is wipe them with 3-in-1 oil everytime i wash the car to protect them from corrosion.

Thanks, i can't wait to finally get her finished and drive her again :)

The circles on mine are engraved so it was dead easy, i suppose all you could do is try to make a stencil out of masking tape.

Awesome mini mate, you can be well proud of the resto so far!

Thanks, i just wish it wasn't taking so long.

Unfortunately there’s nothing really exciting to update on at the minute, I have been tinkering now and then, all the welding is now done and she is almost ready for paint, I’ll get some pictures up as soon as I can. Looking back at my last update I didn’t realise how long it’s been since I really got stuck in. :(

For the last month or so I’ve been working on another project, after selling my Bini Cooper S I bought a dirt cheap SPi Cooper called Davina to use for shows/runs etc (as turning up to a Mini show in a Bini just isn’t the same lol :D ). Before I bought the car I told myself I wasn’t going to do any work on it other than general service, maintenance ect, as I need what little spare time I have to get Verity finished but I just couldn’t help myself. I will be starting another thread for Davina as soon as I get chance but for now here’s what she looked like when I bought her.

I know this is an old thread now, but did it ever get any more work done? Please don't tell me the car was left after all this hard work and not finished off? I don't recall even seeing v21ash on here recently.
