Thanks, i even clean up welds etc in places were no-one will every be able to see them so i think i'm the odd one :D

I've just replied to your post, if it doesn't extend down below the floor/closing panel then you'll need to extend it so you've got something to weld to.

Well i managed to drag myself in the garage even though i really couldn’t be bothered tonight. :D
I’ve welded some nuts on the rear valance for the fog lamp brackets, for some reason some heritage valance’s come with the nuts and some don’t???
I primed the closing panels & valance and i have seam sealed the edges of the closing panels to try and stop moisture getting between them and the floor, they will be sealed all the way round eventually and i will be blowing a load of wax oil in the voids at the ends of the valance too.
Got the valance bolted in position but haven’t welded it up yet as i want to clamp it up and make sure all the seams will be in the correct position before i weld anything.
And finally i got the join in the boot floor welded all the way across, just need to dress the weld now, and it looks like i’m only just going to have enough gas and wire to finish all the welding.

It's weld through primer, if i leave the e-coating on the spot welder can't weld it. I normally use zinc rich which is silver but i couldn't get any so i had to use copper rich, which to be honest isn't as good.

The zinc plating looks fantastic especially the yellow/gold passivated parts. How are you preparing the nuts and bolts for plating?

i'm quite pleased with how most of the zinc plated bits have turned out, i've had to do a few bits twice though as sometimes they come out grey. I've used a clear blue passivate on most of the bolts which looks good too.
I clean all the items with an ammonium chloride electrolyte which strips the old zinc plating, rust, paint etc back to bright steel then dip in hyrochloric acid for 20 moins before plating.

This is a quality restoration. It wouldn't matter how hard I tried I couldn't work to your standard. Thanks for the fantastic information.

Hugh
