I've tried a few different chrome paints before, to repair the reflectors in some spot lamps and none of them gave what i would call a chrome effect and certainly not a mirror finish, just turned out as already said a weird silver. So i ended up buying new spot lamps for about the same price as i'd already forked out on all the chrome paint :D

Same as, not very good. Tends to rub off as well when touched, leaving a dull lead looking finish. I tried to clear coat laquer it just to see what happened, even though it did say on the can not to & it just reacts and goes even worse. I would save you money and just get them refurbed correctly.

If you want the dish to shine again, you need to strip the lacquer off the dish and polish the metal underneath it.

The reason they look bad is usually because the lacquer has peeled and let water under it.

To be honest with you there isn't really any paints on out at the moment that actually look like chrome without spending an absolute fortune, talking £150+ per litre. The lacquer on all polished rims will eventually lift off because it has nothing to stick to. Once it gets a slight chip or mark then moisture gets in & the rest start bubbling off. You can remove the lacquer & polish them up but this means continually polishing to keep them looking good or I have had some stripped in the past & just painted them.
