Buying a f reg 1275 metro on sat, anyone know if it will be unleaded or not or how to tell?

a F reg should be leaded unless someones converted it :smartass:

print this out and take it with you. Then you can check it against the engine number when you get there

not all 89 metros are unleaded the same as minis i has a g reg 90 mayfair that was not unleaded

Yes dave is right, the changeover is late 1988, with mixed production for a bit. At the time 4 star was much cheaper than unleaded, so 4 sat cars still sold well.
We had an early unleaded 998cc Austin Metro as a garage run around for ages.
"The Metro Custard" as it was bright yellow was registered in October 1988. It even beat a Porsche 944 around a twisty backroad.
Look for the 12HE engine code if its in a Metro. That means its unleaded.

I think the actual change point is late '89 but it was available as an option from late '87 on and obviously all the over stock of the leaded cars would have taken a while to sell after they stopped manufacture. So with any car of roughly that age you'll always need to check the engine number, you can't just say yes or no based on age.
