Loose Door Mirrors

They are incredibly loose and easily move in the wind .. They also move when doing a massive 40mph
So, my simple question is .. If they move easily from the ball joint, are they knackered completely? .. Is there a way to strengthen them up at all? ..
Cheers ..

I have the standard plastic Mk4 onwards mirrors. If you take off the plastic over at the base and unbolt the mirror from its nuserts. Its a bit easier like that.
There is a nut at the bottom of the ball joint for the mirror. Inbetween the nut and the ball joint is a thick spring. Tighten up the nut to tension the spring and refit - hey presto! You have mirrors that don't tuck in to make the car more aerodynamic at speed

Not quite sure what mirrors they are, as when i bought the car they were already fitted ..What mirrors do you have?

They look abit like the Tex ones Minispares are selling ..
I think my best bet is to dismantle them tomorrow and see what i can do .. If i can't get them back together, I'll throw the towel in and buy new ones
On the aerodynamic front .. Damn , that drag's costly ..
