im sure i read somewhere not long ago that if u could source a 1300 maestro head that they are prety good as they have larger ports??? anyone back this up or confirm it?? may have seen it in retro cars??

I would think so - Maestros have a better head on them for sure as they came standard with 70bhp.

I've got an unleaded Maestro head on my Mini, it's the same as the unleaded head on the Metro. Nothing special about it. But I believe the earlier leaded petrol Maestros had the same head as the MG Metro with the bigger inlet valves.

The 1.3 Montego's had 1.35 and 1.1 valves, and as that's the same power unit as used in the maestro I suspect they will be the same, which is the same as a bogo std metro

Later on today there will be a near complete list of Heads and Valve sizes on the FAQ's
