Hi, I'm thinking of fitting a new wiring loom to my 1991 Cooper and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice? Is it very hard to do?

At the moment the wiring throughout the car is a nightmare so I thought it would be easiest just to replace it all and start from scratch.

If anyone has any tips on where to buy one from (cheap) and how to fit it I'd be very grateful.

Thanx

Loll

Hi, its very easy to replace literally dis-connecting and plugging in the new one. The back section can be a slight pain as it runs under the front and rear piller and under metal casing along the roof but you should be able to feed it through the pillers and the metal casing on the roof should bend back with a bit of elbow-grease, then just do the reverse of what iv said to put it back in. Cheapest ive seen is minispares and Moss-europe Just look under wiring or electrical links u'll soon find them! hope that helps! :w00t: theres a picture below showing where it goes which ull see on the Moss website.

p.s it will mean taking out your roof lining and dahboard lining plus your speedo etc. to get access to the wiring behind. You will then have to unscrew the bulkhead blanking plate (square black blanking plate) so you can pull all the wiring out of the car with the blanking plate attached then just pull through the wires one by one through the plate. It is much easier that way as you dont end up having to keep on getting in and out of the car. As all the wiring is away from the car. I personally would do the front section first.
