1992 British classic open 1275carb Cat removed stage 1
What do vac hoses going int thermo housing really do and do i really need them, whenever i see nicely detailed engine bay they don't seem to have them..
..because i have to replace thermostat housing and sleeve after smashing them trying to remove bolts, the hose inlet screw thing in thermostat housing is also damaged and needs replacing and it doesn't seem cheap...any ideas welcomed
Thanks

I believe this is a thermostatic switch in the thermostat housing. When cold, it is closed, when open, it allows fuel vapours to be burnt away from the charcoal cannister under the inner wing, and allows vac advance when the engine is warm. By the way: info to be confirmed by a more knowledgeable, and more sober person...
I had a 1993 1275 Carb, and i removed the cannister, and just ran the vac advance direct to the dizzy... the choice is yours.

If you dont run any hoses, the car will run lumpy, and economy/performance will most likely suffer!
