Where can I find the correct spark plug gap.

I've got a 1340 with mods, does the spark plug gap get set for a standard 1275 or does it need to be set differantly for variations mod states.

Also do certain plugs come preset.

The spark plug gaps should be printed in your Haynes book. If you dont have one.....(Get one)....Then from memory it should be 0.25mm...Spark plugs normally come pre gapped....but always as well to check.

I have got a haines and the restoration one too, but it will not give a gap for an uprated engine just standard spec.

Does it matter if the spec is uprated or do I just set the gap for a 1275 standard spec???

The gap is what controls the spark, the bigger the gap the higher the voltage has to get to jump it, giving a a stronger spark. The limiting factor is the capability of your ignition system. 25thou for points and anything up to 40thou for a good electronic system. I wouldn't trust any plug out of the box.

Lets not get over complicated here.....The spark plugs can be set to the gap in the Haynes manual.....They will work fine......
