So.....
My missus is pregnant (hooray). As a perfect gift for a pregnant girlfriend I have got her a ticket to the retro car show down at Santa Pod at the beginning of next month.... Good times.
Here lies the problem; The missus will be 20 weeks pregnant when we go and will have a slight bump.... however, the mini has 3 point harnesses and I was wondering if it is:
a) safe to take a pregnant woman with harnesses?
b) If so, are there any amendments/add ons needed
c) Is it just not safe?
Thanks in advance

Im going to say no pal, with seat belts you can put the lower strap under the bump, and the the diagonal bit goes accross the body as normall. All force in a crash is accross the pelvis and upper body, not on your cozy and warm soon to be little lad or lass.
But with a harness you have two straps that run over the bump. Big no no fella.

Just no. Can't you find a sensible car to hire/borrow for the weekend?

Or retro fit standard 3 point seatbelts? When my missus was preggers, we bought a thing to go on the seatbelt to position the belt correctly around the bump (bump belt)

Ok, my heart of hearts told me that so we will take her sensible modern car. Thanks for the open thoughts.

I think you only get one chance buddy. Its your baby at risk... once damage is done its done and you cant take it back. Theres always the chance It'll be fine, I'm sure it would be, but It's a baby, you cant risk it!!

You're going to be driving a mini and you think that the harness is the only thing to worry about in an accident?
Personally I wouldn't be worried about the safety issues, but rather how comfy my missus would be in a bouncy mini.
The next thing you need to think about is how to fit a baby seat with harnesses!!
