Ive done it, just search on here, and theres loads of threads on how to do it.
Abit of advice, dont buy the Minispares conversion loom, as the bulb holders are ****! Even with genuine Lucas bulbs they would simply not hold the bulbs in, so I had to buy a set of new holders which take 501's. Would have got a refund on it and got a different loom, but got it for a christmas pressie
A few usefull threads there

i did the conversion on my clubby estate, i was lucky as the central speedo i got had the loom still on the back, all the wires joined together colour perfect, with the exception of the indicator wires, which were 2 pairs of wires from car loom, into 1 set on the speedo loom, all work sweet as, even the fuel gauge (but when travelling forward, the petrol gauge goes down, i presume this is due to the fact the tank is very long and flat, which means the momentum of travel makes the fuel rush to the back of the tank making the gauge go down?)

Nope but be prepared for it not to be fully painted! Mine is grey across most of it.
