Basically, the mini has started leaking oil from a round plug in the front center of the engine block.

Fixable? How to?

Thank you muchly.

Edit: can get photos if needed.

That is a core plug for the water jacket, not oil.

If it is leaking, it will need replacing. The plugs are cheap enough, but although fitting them is an easy process it can be tricky, but not impossible, with the engine in the car.

It's definately oil. Cleaned it all off yesterday and checked today whilst the engine was running.

Not sure where it could be from if that's A core plug.

Might be peeing out your dipstick and just looks like its coming from the core plug? My dipstick leaks oil like nobodies business!

Are you definitely sure its coming from behind the dipstick and not shooting up from the dipstick itself?

Also over to the left of it as below in link provided above

Is that your engine bay in the picture you posted in your reply?

Nah, not my pic. It's the the garage and if I want to live I'll wait until tomorrow to take a pic.

I thought about the dipstick, but I thought that was daft! All around the dipstick is covered too.

So what's the first port of call? New dipstick?

A big spring from the oil pipe to the dipstick loop to hold it down. Thats the cheapo method.I keep meaning to do it... Or just get a new dispstick from Huddersfield or the likes.

Ahhh ok, that makes sense, I was gonna mention that someones nicked your ecu :)

Cheapest would be to clean up the front of the engine as best as you can, not just behind the dipstick or the rubber on the dipstick but all over the front, start it up and check for leaks

DSN Classics do a dipstick retaining spring to hold the dipstick in under high oil pressures

Its the front core plug "it's easy enough to pop out and put a new one in" - mate at a garage.

At least the mini passes the MOT, knew it would. Just got one advisory.
