I saw one of the original Penny covered Mini's on show in an exhibtion in the USA about 20-25 years ago.

For sale in 2007:
"This penny covered Mini was created as part of a promotion for the launch of The Beatle's Penny Lane single in 1967. It is covered in 14,000 pennies and is one of least two. It was put on auction at Bonham's and had an estimate of £6,000-£8,000."

I remember it too. Think it was in the Science Museum in London.

I'm sure I saw this at the Yorkshire Car Museum in the early/mid 90s.

Dunno if the museum even exists any more.

Hmmmm worth up to £8k you say?? :) ....... So I'm thinking.... buy myself a reasonable mini for about £1.5k.... get £2.8k changed up into 2p coins (as they are about the same size as the old penny) spend a few months sticking a few coins on each day with some araldite and then sell the Worlds first "Two Penny Mini" for a cool £3.7k profit ....KERR-CHING!! :)
