Oh you beauty!! I have had five vans and still have two an Austin 1960 UK roundnose smooth roof and an 1976 Aussie leyland van which has a clubman front and the fluted roof (I am going to build that one into a weekend racer possibly supercharged as I have a Shorrock waiting for a project). Loads of Vans here but most have side windows (makes them look like station wagons or estates depending on where you live). As for the number of Vans left on the road I know I killed one after hitting a deisel slick on a dual carriageway near Caterham (Bypass) and rolling over the central barrier and coming to a stop facing the oncoming traffic. Phew....no one hurt but my wife won't forget it in a hurry. Thank god there was a police prescence as the previous car that went through also went off the road. I have also used a few rusty ones for body parts so there goes another two. There are some production figures in Alec Issigonis' book. Someone will have it to hand and let us know how many were produced. I lived in Rhodesia now Zimbabwe were I bought my first Mini and a mate there had a Van. There was a BMC/Leyland factory there before my time. My first four Vans were bought after we moved to the UK. Now I have another since we moved to Australia. I watched the local Mini expert in Bulawayo race his Mini van back in the seventies and he used to cream the opposition as he seamed to have better handling.........a few extra inches in wheelbase helps. Good luck and welcome..............and yes the smooth roof is sought after and over here the round nose is also sought after. I am not sure that you would make a killing if you sold it as there are lots of them around but you stand a better chance probably because of its age. The number plate (Registration) might be worth more than the car. Take care. Kev.

This many, although the figures are dubious as just checked my Austin Morris Clubby saloon 1970 and it said 1 but I have seen more than that around I'm sure.

Was impressed with this site at first but like you, I think some are dubious like this one the Ford Cortina Mk3 mass produced but they say only 2 left one sorn one licenced
well I saw six at a classic car show the other week. Also some of the years dont match up with the manufactured years.

http://www.howmanyle...ord_cortina_mk3

The figures for mine are total SORN and Licenced are Italian Job 435, Sidewalk 600, Rover Cooper 1.3i 3254, Mini City 628.

Looking at the fiqures for the Austin Morris Mini City 1994 Q4 there were 10319 by 1995 Q4 there were only 7477, nearly 3000 mini's disappeared in one year where did they go!!!

Hi

I'm doing some research into 1960 vans ... do you still have them and do you have details, photos, etc?

Thanks

Stefan
