There were free test track rides in a fleet of New MINI's which you could choose what model to go round in. We went as passengers around the Plant test track in a Clubman Cooper S which was pretty scary at least as a passenger! High speed straights, emergency braking at each end, mini roundabout corner tests, cobbled surfaces, etc. Our women test driver said it is all part of her everyday job for the last 27 years since the British Leyland days! At one point we got held up on the fast straight by another Mini Cabrio which I think had a frightened young passenger onboard so we got taken round the track twice as a bonus to make up.........luckily before eating lunch. They would all need new tyres and brakes by end of day I think.........
Also wandered around the QEC (Quality testing) department area of the plant that was open and set up for visitors, lots of the new MINI Coupes could be seen inside undergoing tests and on show but with restrictions on taking any photos inside the building.
