I have a pair of refurb'd twin HS2's and am thinking about what air filters to use, I have read into trumpets and socks however am unsure if this will provide enough filtering?? or to go with K and N pancakes?? come on guy's what are you running??

A 'pancake' filter is no use - but a taper cone filter (like K&N) is ok. Really - a big single carb is better than the twin small carbs -and only means one filter to buy!

Says you, I prefer having all 4 cylinders getting a more equal flow of air and fuel.

Sorry but in that point of view a bigger single one has a smoother flow.
-PS i dont want to open another can of worm bout twins and single carbs-

To answer the original question, the best filters are K & N conical with 'stub-stacks'.

Twin Carbs are better than single. Fact.
Smoother flow in and out of the engine.
Direct lines into the ports so no ineffecency
Read VIZARD. Even he says a good twin setup will out perform single carb setups.
If you tune a set of HS2's right you can get them to perform upto 100BHP.
Im sorry to say this but i cant agree with you here cooperman, PhillipGCaldwell has shown you THE BEST filter design. (The one i told him about
)
But you will pay the price.
Pancakes are rubbish. A design that does not bring any air in from the largest face surface yet tries to bring air in from the smallest surface, i.e. round the edges, and then tries to turn the air through 90 degrees into the carburetion system is inefficient and a waste of money leading to power losses.
