Greetings all. Thought its about time i joined the forum. i have used it in the past to search for ideas and tips on fixing my mini's. but a few years ago i sold my beloved mini to go off and get involved with driving jap GTi's. Biggest mistake of my life.... although i loved both the Corolla GTi and the Lancer GTi. My heart was always set with the mini.
After almost killing myself on a motorbike i have been transportless for a couple of years. and needing cheap transport i went in search of a mini again.... how times have changed. Mini's are no longer cheap... spent ages cursing how i have missed my old mini. how i should have never sold her. how i will proberly never get another one again at this rate. when out of the blue i find a 1991 Mini Cooper in BRG sitting under a cover in a friends garden. it had been sat since 2004, had a new front valence and subframe fitted due to a argument with a curb. and had the 1275 carb engine replaced with a 998carb engine for insurance purposes. the downside. it had been under one of those summer covers since 2004. sweated like anything. and had the dreaded tinworm infestation.. the scuttle had gone on the right. leaking water inside... mushrooms (i kid you not) had grown in the footwell. i looked over it. offered the guy £500 and got a reply i wasnt expecting... YES. its yours take it.. its going to need new sill's both sides. left had been patched badly. with a over sill put over the rust. front floor pans holed and patched. so they are being replaced. front filtch panel. inner scuttle both sides. full top scuttle. both wings, A panels, rear arches, and rear valence. normally i would ber panicking. OMG RUST. its a scrapper...... and stuff like that. but i have all the air tools. i have a arc and mig welder. and i just bought all the panels needed... im making sure im keeping a photo log of everything i do.. will be putting them on photobucket at some point. im hoping to get her MOT'able within the next 2 months.. sounds a bit tight. but everyday i will be out there cutting, welding, grinding, painting. so onwards upwards. and Yeehaa i have a mini again......
