A bit like the Aston Martin Cygnet which AM originally were pricing at 50k, then they probably realised that no one would pay that for essentially what is a Toyota IQ with nicer seats!!

I followed one of those "Aston" Cygnets home last Sunday, i was stunned that someone actually brought one!

All i can say is "WHY"
![]()
Why not?......................A 1000 MINI's will almost certainly sell out (many will go to China) and thats how successful car companies gain publicity, worldwide reputations for quality and make the profits to expand production, fund research and development and pay their workforce.........if only BMC/BL/Rover had perhaps recognised the same potential markets and customers they may still be around today.

If you were a city dweller, professional fella (thought whopps I got mayself a lot of money) and wanted an easy to park small car that was based on a toyota, but wanted to pay a £15k premium for a Aston badge, then yes it makes a lot of sense.
But really its only purpose is to lower the company's carbon foot print across the range meaning they can still produce 6.0L V12 powered cars normal people are interested in.
