There was a recent article in one of the more popular mini publishings describing a service on a mpi if you don't want to fork out for a haynes manual.

Although they are a wothwhile investment.... especially with mini's

Suspension. 1 each on front top arm pivot shaft, top ball joint, bottom ball joint, rear radius arm pivot shaft, both sides. You need a proper grease gun (not one of those silly push gun things) with a flexible delivery tube and a tub or cartridge of LM grease.

The only thing you can't do without special tools is interrogate the ECU to see if it has any known problems that it's correcting for. You can buy a cheap fault code reader from Halfords which can help you with this if you feel you need to.

Incorrect servicing IMO is the reason why many cars suffer major aggro in thier later years due to neglect. Rover dealer service is more than an oil change, and on the lter MPI cars very important due to the complexity of the Safety restraint system requiring specialist tools and replacement of air bags at ten years old. The injection cars also require thir own maintenance procedures to keep them running correctly. Lack of dealer service on any Injection car is probibly why they eventualy cause severe running problems and also why you get articles in Magazines telling you how rip the injection out.

Find below the official Dealer service check sheet for your refference
