Has anyone bought/used this angle grinder?

http://www.wilkinson...r...OHJcT3SpQ==

I need one to remove some metal off my front wings (under the arch). Will it do the job or am I best to steer clear?

i'v 1 of them here, possibly the most uncomfortable tool to use!! the switch is really annoying and you end up with a dead thumb after about 10 seconds!!
its not broken tho!

you could go for something like this if you're close to an argos, its bound to break with in a year so you just return it and get another 1 for the next year!!

Hmm. The Argos one comes with a special offer on the cutting discs as well. Grinder and 6 metal cutting discs for £22!

I thought draper stuff was alright? I only need it for a bit of trimming work so it might be worthwhile.

It normally is, but that grinder button potion is just silly. I got a £30 one from B&Q. It did bork itself once, turned out a carbon brush was stuck.

B&Q do a small 115mm grinder for around £25 which comes with 2 year warranty.

I had one, it broke after 16 months, still had reciept, took it back and they swapped it for another one. The price had gone up a couple of quid so I had to pay the difference but it's OK.

Cutting discs - toolstation do 10 for around £4.

If it's going to get a lot of use, just fork out the extra £20 odd and get a bosch one, I also have a makita which is very nice, but we have used bosch for as long as I can remember and they last for ages (we have about 8 on the go all day every day), I'm talking about the blue bosch not the green!

I doubt it'll get much use, so might just go for the cheapo option. Thanks for the advice everyone.

As others have said, the switch is the biggest pain with a cheapo grinder (until the whole thing breaks), so if you just want one to do the job go and try a couple out in shops and get the one with the comfiest switch you can find, it's horrible when you have to put all your effort into keeping a rubbish switch pushed in or on etc, makes a big difference to how well you can use it.

that's the one, it's not particulary powerful and will get bogged down on heavy stuff, but it does the job, especially with two year warranty.

Ah, balls. I've just bought the B&Q one and realised that it comes with a stone cutting disc and a metal grinding disc.

Is it possible to use the metal grinding disc as a cutting device? As in, to cut about a half inch strip off my wing (under the arches) to give more clearance for the tyres. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

It'd probably cut but it'll be horrible to use and make a cut about half an inch wide!

Get a pack of thin cutting discs, thinner the better really.

I've had two b&q grinders, the power performance ones, and wore one out literally and the other is still going strong on current project. The Bosch one I had broke all too easilly when just out of the 1 yr warranty !!! Cheap and 2 yr guarantee does for me. Cutting discs are cheap enough from all over the shop !

It's always uncertain how long anything will last before it packs up, i suppose it is down to luck really.

I have a Bosch angle grinder that has been used very frequently and still going after 15 years, although the unlock mechainsm has bust, I just use a spanner to lock the spindle instead. I also bought a cheap B&Q jigsaw for £11 thinking 'if it dies i will just buy another one'!! that has also been going strong for around 9 years now!!

I suppose how you treat them also has a big impact on how long they last. Look after them and they will look after you is how the saying goes!
