Driveshaft Is Hitting My Exhaust

Hello I have a problem that my driveshaft is hitting my exhaust.

I fitted a LCB stage 2 from Mani Flow; I already changed the driveshaft couplings from rubber-coupling to the roller type which is a little bit smaller.
This didn’t help.

My idea is to convert the car to pot-joint, is this possible I know that I have to swap my dif.

Hammer and some pipe sorted mine, I just ended up putting a bend in the down pipe so it cleared....

Those nylon joints are crap IMO I destroyed a new set this year, the rubber ones seems much more hardy.....

Sorry no, that’s my last step I rather put in a normal LCB.

I want to swap my dif any way from 3:44 to 3:1 so I have to take out the gearbox to do that, so way don’t go the extra step.

Hardy Spicers is no option to expensive for me.

its a known clearance issue with the remote style of boxes, the best standard clearance would be the nylon roller joints. the 998's that had these boxes used to use the free-flow manifold so they would clear. Im not sire but I think the older engines like mine site further back in the twin bolt frame???

The LCB came into general use after the older rubber joints had been superceded. The 'S', which was the first general use of the LCB had Hardy-Spicers.
The only way to fit an LCB onto the old 'cruciform' couplings is to put a dent into one of the LCB pipes. The other alternative is a 3-into-1 exhaust manifols which the old Cooper and early cooper 'S' had when using the cruciform couplings.
It's a known issue.

I'm having same problem - I have rod change 1275 A+ gearbox (pointjoint type) and find my 'freeflow' exhaust sits so close to the off-side pot joint that I cant fit a rubber gaitor on

Problem as have just rebuilt engine and box, rubber fell off and spattered grease everywhere!

I'm finding the rubber is wearing thinner and JUST stays on at the moment - no chance of getting a clip on there though, can barely get a feeler gauge between rubber and exhanust.

Was thinking maybe adjustable engine steadies would be the answer - tilt engine so it sits further away from exhaust at the bottom end.

Anyone got any advice? Would this work or is there another better solution I'm not seeing? Would rather not spend £40 for two adjustable stabilisers off ebay.

Any help's much appreciated anyway, thanks

As Cooperman says, the best solution is to fit the single downpipe manifold. We always supply the Maniflow Freeflow when customers have rubber coupling driveshafts. This gives plenty of clearance. In any case, the Freeflow actually works better than an LCB right through to mildly tuned 1275's.
