My speedo cable has sheered off from the back of the dial and am wondering if theres a tip anyone can give me to reaching/releasing the cable from ontop of the gearbox. have traced it down to the gearbox housing but seems very difficult to get at, even when the car is on ramps.

Any help?

If you dont have small hands removing the radiator is a great help.

In most cases you can just about get at it using your left arm shoved down the back of the engine. The collars are not usually tight so you probably wont need a tool.

I have done several like this with no problems, and I don't have particularly skinny arms.
