Rover mini 35 1994
Non standard angel eyes used.
Recently fitted angel eye headlights and spot lights. The problem is, When the sidelights are on (engine off) angel eyes are showing fine. As soon as you turn the engine on, however, the main beam headlights become dimly light. All the wiring has been soldered and insulated. The spot lights have been wired into the main beam. All lights were working fine before mod.
Any ideas as to what could be the cause and, more importantly, the fix.
Kind regards.

If it's a Mini 35 it will have a Dim/Dip relay fitted.
Don't panic as it's a simple fix. Behind the Dashboard (driver's side) you will find a fairly big pink relay.
Just cut and tape-up the green wire going into the relay. that is the power wire to the relay and once cut will stop the headlights from coming on dimly when you turn on the ignition.
This would have been happening before you fitted the angel-eyes, you just wouldn't have noticed it as the parking light bulbs were inside the old headlamp unit.
You should be able to find this relay if you poke around above the Brake pedal.
