The Transfer Window.

The transfer window is quite interesting so far. Three good signings for Utd, especially Ashley Young, is good news. I can understand why Brown, O'Shea and Gibson would want to leave with Brown not even playing enough for a winners medal last season. Although its a shame they will most likely leave, I have a lot of respect for them not just accepting a bit part role and wanting to play as much football as possible. Owen Hargreaves should be a good free transfer for someone as well if he can stay fit.
I think Charlie Adams for Liverpool is an interesting move. He's a great player and did very well for Blackpool, but they are not in the same class as Liverpool, and I think it might be hard for him at the start. I hope he does well though.
I would not want to be an Arsenal fan at the moment, it can't be good for them. Clichy having already gone to City, Nasri about to tell Wenger he wants to move to Utd (which would be pretty good) and Fabregas all but certain to move to Barcelona at some point. There is no way Arsenal can keep him for much longer. Unfortunately, (and I can't remember which presenter made this comment), it seems they cannot keep hold of or sign big players at the moment. No trophy in 6 years is obviously a massive factor - these players are fantastic and they want to win things. Maybe its time for a change of management at Arsenal - they have had some great squads and players in the past but if they dont create a great squad this summer its just going to be harder and harder. When, not if, Nasri and Fabregas go, Wenger is going to have to break the habit and spend big, or very very wisely. With all the big teams spending a lot this season they need to follow suit. It will be interesting to see how much more the fans can take before they start calling for a change of manager. I know Wenger has done well at Arsenal, but there is only so much they can take. I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal finish outside the top 4 this season.
Aston Villa is another interesting one - AlexMcleish taking over is a brave risk. Having already sold Ashley Young and with the possible departure of Stuart Downing, they also need to make some new signings this summer, but with hardly any money available its going to be a tough year for Villa I feel.
The situation at Spurs is interesting as well - with Levy saying quite firmly that Modric is not for sale. Apparently, his relationship with the club is becoming strained as a result, and he really wants to move to Chelsea. Although Chelsea finished second last year, I think Spurs would bve a better team to be playing for right now - they have a great squad and some fantastic players. I think Harry will have a good year with Spurs and a top finish should be their target, with the added bonus of removing Arsenal.
Of course, City (the scum) are active as well and it remains to be seen what happens with Tevez but I think his England days are behind him now, especially ifhis wife and children would be happy going to Spain. However, with all their money and a high price tag for him it could be interesting to see where he goes to. He is good, but not 50m good.
That's just the big teams, it would take a lot of time to go through all of them. However some interesting rumours from the 'Your rumours' part of Sky Sports (make of them what you will.....)
Ronaldo has said he would move to City if Jose leaves Real this Summer. Not good for Utd if that happened although I don't think it will.
A 60m move to the Emirates for.....Kaka. I can't see this happening.
Nani to leave Utd and join Real Madrid. Plausible, especially if Ronaldo were to leave....that would mean you could expect to see Nani at City in about 3 years as he just appears to be following Ronaldo.
So does anyone have any thoughts on the transfer window, in England or elsewhere? I know there are many of you who will looking forward to the next season. My only major disappointment is that I have Reading festival tickets for the August bank holiday weekend, which means I can't make the Utd v Arsenal game at OT. Not impressed.

As a spurs supporter, The sistuation with modric, well everyone has a price, and everyone is for sale. but be big dissapointment if he does sneak off probably at double the price which would be good and bad...Defoe a player do love watching even sparked off wanting to move to arsenal, which i think media just blew out of proprtion as is was only days before that he said he is very happy at club and so he should be, even though he had injury last season and didnt get much action...As said our team is at its strongest has been growing for past 2-3 years and we are in a fantastic position to aim for top...Our defence can let us down sometimes and is our only weakness, but yeh spurs i feel deserve that place at the top now, they have worked incredibly hard....

hes got a huge ego which is pumped up from people telling him hes great when hes average at best.
villa should have some decent money to spend, im sure learner said he was going to invest well this summer.
blues players are a joke, jumping ship as soon as they get relegated, even players like ridgewell and gardener, who said it was a boy hood dream to play for blues, only to aid their demise and then turn around and say they are too good for the championship.

Far too many over inflated prices for players that are quite frankly poor (poor as in you'll be lucky to get one good game in five out of them). Though they all seem to end up in Manchester (blue or red).
I do worry when the fad of owning a premiership team is old news (and billionaires resurrect the classic mini brand. lol). I'm glad my teams (QPR) wealthy owners aren't spending crazy. if they dash of back to their yachts we'd be destroyed. Which goe the same for the gooners, Chelsea, United, City
I think I'm still waiting on the bargain of the summer.

the do say behind every great fortune is a crime.
all prices are rediculous post ronaldo. like you said average players are now worth a fortune.
stuwart downing for the villa valued at 20 million, it must be a liverpool thing after all the paid a ludicrous amount for Andy Carroll whos a big bag a poop.

the fact they are in the red is mainly down to the yanks being aloud to take out a £600million loan to buy the club. many have argued this should be banned, you shouldnt be aloud to take a club into the red just because you can afford to buy it outright.Man U go through money quicker than all the clubs put together...In the red like the colour there club...

man city have a huge problem, im sure something stuid like 85% (or something as obsurdly high) of their income is spent on wages. i know the owners are minted ut if they dont get a return form winning the likes of the champions league (worth something like 100miilion to the winners), they wont stick around.

This year, granted, we have spent a fair amount. However, in previous years, Chelsea have spent much more than us, and more recently City have as well. As for the owners, as was already said its because the Glazer's bought the club with borrowed money. On actual income vs expenses, minus the ridiculous loans, we still do fine. If you look at the crowd's at the Utd games, you will see a lot of green and yellow - all a reference to hating the Glazer's. Could be interesting when Norwich come to OT...Man U go through money quicker than all the clubs put together...In the red like the colour there club...
For some reason, I do remember something about FIFA or UEFA stating a planned ruling that says a club must break even every three years, in an attempt to reduce the ridiculous wage bills. City, for example, have lost money each year since their new owners took over, simply because of the huge amounts they spend. It coulod be an interesting ruling. I hope I didn't imagine this...
Of all the teams, if Utd do not win the league, Spurs would be the best one for me.

all clubs could do with owners/chairman like Dave Whelan of Wigan, who geuinely loves the clubs, has spent a fortune to see the club do well. and refuses to spend a fortune on players wages... its the future, hes actually calling for a cap on player wages like in rugby.
