I managed to buy Susie already stripped down, awaiting restoration.

Day One

Paid for and transported the 60 or so miles to her new home.

She will hopefully be ready for the London to Brighton run next year.

The plan is to get the new panels in the next month or so, then ship off the shell for fitting and a new colour.

It came with a 998 engine, I'm currently looking for something with a little more vroom factor, so probably a 1275 or similar.

Changing the fron drums to discs. replacing anything that is knackered and badly worn. Then eventually a nice new interior.

The next job is to sort through all the parts she came with and decide whats good or not!!

Well after a broken foot time to crack on with Suzie.

She's off to get her body work done soon, so time to get her back on her wheels.

On the front the drums have gone and 7.5" discs have arrived, along with Gaz dampers, new rubber cones, updated tie rods, ands lots of shiny new nuts and bolts.

All was fine till I tried to fit the rear subframe and it was a no go for today.

A1275 engine has arrived, but will need rebuilding, along with a pair of twin carbs, and a modded head. :)

Well today she became a rolling restoration as she sat on wheels for the first time in about 6 years.

She has to leave her nice garage tomorrow and live on the drive under a tarp till she goes to get the rot chopped and some nice new metal put it.

She was going to stay brown, but last night we decided we might (about 80% certain!) convert her into a van (side panels from Jordie) as we have two dogs so we can make the back area a bit bigger for them, and get rid of the potential leaky areas. But I don't want a brown van! So we might go for Old English White, a gray, or something beige like this click! Decisions decisions.

I did do some polishing of the hub caps today

This will be going on a set of 10x4.5 steelies which today went to be blasted, then will I will be spraying them OEW.

Time to ponder the engine next, the 1100 is not going back in, I found a 1275 for a good price which I'm going to strip and work on over the coming weeks.

Another clubvan? Nice! Id vote on brown though, amazing how cool they look in there original colour, plus with dogs if they get muddy it won't show up as much as with a white car!

Nice project, what about keeping the factory brown down to the waist line and then the antalope biege in your link below?

i do like clubvans, but with the dogs wouldn't it be better to still be able to open the rear windows a bit to let air in (and smell out :P) and you can still take out the rear seats ect to have it as a van inside? Make it easier for pullng out of junctions ect as well

I was pondering that, but I'm quite keen to remove a leak zone - and also the OH wants rear seats in it if it keeps the windows :(
