Model: Sprite
Year: 1983
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
Probably a stupid question  .

i recently bought this to secure my carpet down, whilst allowing it to be removed:
http://www.minispare...=...7527&title=

Ive uploaded a picture of the 3 parts that i presume are used in each clipping point.

I can see how they go together, but which part do i stick to the carpet, and which to the chassis. ??? :) and how do i stick them, some kind of strong glue?

and is the black part necessary (i cant see what it does, the silver parts clip together fine without it)?

Thanks.

I've looked at these kits too and wasn't sure.

The black spikey bit it used to secure the large of the poppers...but how I'm not sure. Through the floor and bent under neath the car???

I've also seen kits of ebay that sold "stong" glue with them so was unsure.

Do let us know.

Never thought of it like that. but it seems not correct, surely we dont have to have lots of little holes in the car. :)

thanks

I agree. Minis tend to leak enough without adding more holes.

Just thinking. You'd still need either glue or another retaining clip. One to attach to the floor and one to the carpet.

Is you underlay stuck to the floor? Could be that retaining clip you have shown goes though that and then folds under (kind of like a staple). Is that all you got in the kit?

.........i don't think i'm helping........

There is underlay stuck to the chassis around the front of interior (Arches etc), which i could go through. but none on the floor (where i would also like my carpet to be a little more secure.

And i got about 7 or 8 each of what i pictured

I'm in the process of fitting my carpets with the same kit.

I believe the way there meant to work is you fasten the larger female end of the clip to the bottom of the carpet using the black three pronged clip pushed through the top of the carpet and then spread apart the legs.

The male end of the pop rivet I've secured with a self taper screw to a bracket on the inner sill.

Sorry not too good at descriptions :)

Have you sorted out how to use these fastners yet? Will sort my carpet out with these if they are simple.

cheers,
Neil

not really, sorry.

I have used 2 of them for the wheel arches, i but the black spiked ring (and the female stud part through the carpet, so the spikes point towards the inside of the car and then flattened them, and then put the male stud into the under carpet stuff using a short self tapping screw.

It works.

right how they work is this the spikey ring penitrates the carpet from the face so that the spikes stick through to the back of carpet then you place the open clip over the spikes then spread the spikes out so that it traps the ring to the back of carpet now you can screw the popper bit to the sill strips when you have done it right you are left with a ring on the surface of the carpet hope this makes sense John
