i had the stage 1 kit fitted not long ago, and havent scraped it too badly over bumps. plus i dont really rag it that hard. the bracket actually snapped at the tailpiece, and the rubber bit after that broke off too. one of the manifold pipes is loose but im hoping theres no more damage.
will a standard exhaust centre have the brackets or will i need to supply new ones? just theres a place up my road and i cant really drive it the 10 miles to the garage that fitted it in hte first place.
is this usual, or do you think it was poor fitting on the garages part. like i said i dont rag it hard enough to do something like that in such a small space of time. plus i put new bushes in the engine steady too.
would this help? http://minispares.co....aspx?pid=35703
apart from annoying everyone in a 5 mile radius and getting pulled over by police, is it ok to drive it without or not?
cheers, sorry its such a long post, i got drunk at the pub to drown my sorrows.

The usualy cause for exhausts falling off it excessive movement of the engine itself, pulling the exhaust off, so I sould check the condition of the top engine stead and the engine mounts, als the strap at the back of the LCB is still connected to the back of the gearbox.
This is an RC40 fitting Kit, which supplies ALL the partsyou need to fit a side exit 1.75" exhaust. http://minispares.co....aspx?pid=34948

engine steady is fine, mounts are ok. seems strange it would break after i changed the bushes?

Yes they are designed for the job, and actually are perfectly able to support an exhaust, I've always used the kit for putting exhausts on and have NEVER had a problem...those brakets are naff, im sorry i know they are designed for the job, but they simply arnt up to the job. The exhaust needs to be supported in 3 places, lcb/midle/back. If its not hung correctly one of the brakets will be stressed and will snap, the rest will follow suit as they arnt supposed to support the whole exhaust. I have seen this happen alot of times, so even if all the brakets are on if its been badly 'forced' on it will still snap. Personally i'd like to see the brakets a bit beefier so they can take some jip.
The cause of the these braking is because of engine movement, nothing less, and nothing more...
If you intend to rag the **** off your engine, make sure it is appropriatly stabalised first... and that the bushes are up to the job..
