Hi, i have a 79 1275 GT, sandglow with a white roof, the roof has a few small dents, i think it would be a nightmare to fix/fill, i think the original owner painted it white to try and hide them, but it would look the biz in black with the black trim and Black/polished wheels i have to fit. I was wondering if a vinyl roof may be an easier option to cover up the dents, knowing that has its side effects with water/damp, especially if it isn't fitted correctly, does anyone know of a place that fits vinyl in Birmingham/west midlands, or should i be looking to fix the roof and paint it?

Thanks, Steely

A vinyl roof wont really be very good for covering dents as I'd imagine you'd end up with flat or sagging spots in the vinyl above them. You probably be best served to sort the dents out and then have a roof covering fitted if that's the style you're really going for. Vinyl Roof Thread

Do you mean 'sticky' vinyl or as the link above? If the thin sticky stuff it will follow the dents so not suitable to what you were looking to do.

The above posts are correct. Vinyl is not going to be good enough.

I am talking a proper retro vinyl roof, i thought it might be thick enough to cover it up, but i gugess your right, do the job right and get it fixed up and painted.

Thanks.

A proper vinyl type has been used for years to disguise a dented roof on a car!! It used to be very very common.

Maybe try Dons Hoods?
