Hi I got a problem, I’m on the Isle Of Wight and had a company install Megasquirt ECU And gave it back to me not working then shut their business down so can’t go back and no other rolling road people on the Isle Of Wight.
I’ve had a play and got MegaTune and Tuner Studio tried to understand it not very well lol. I’ve also had to put a trigger wheel on the crank wheel as they were trying to run it off the fly wheel and I’ve managed to start it runs really bad.
Can any one recommend any good book's so I can understand it a bit better?
I was hoping that some one has got a megasquirt file map so I could install it then drive on to ferry then to a tuners. I was looking at Slark Race Engineering are they any good, I have phoned but the main man was out but the guy on the phone was helpful and I’m phoning back Monday to talk to the main man.
As for the engine it just a standard 94 SPI engine with no mods.
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks
Steve

Hi,
Can you give a bit more info on the setup, like how the MS is interfacing to the coil(s) and perhaps some pics,
First thing I would do is try to establish if you have sparks at the right sort of times, If you can get a timing light on number one, see if you get about 15 degree's advance, and the same on no 4, also see if you can check the spark is there on no's 2&3 and approx 180 deg from the spark on no's 1 & 4.
after that, you can look at fueling, the absolutely best thing to do would be to muy a wideband lambda gauge like the AEM one, which you can then interface to the MS you can then sort the fueling pretty much as well as a rolling road can, in fact Tuner studio can be set to learn so it self maps the fueling as you drive.

just ordered timing light and as for the wide band sensor do i have to buy the gauge and every thing or can i just buy the sensor then wire stright into megasquirt and what diffrences narrow and wide as i think i got a narrow in there all ready.

The narrowbands you can wire straight to the MS or an LED gauge, but they are not that useful, essentially they just tell you if you are richer or leaner than stochimetric, and if you are at stochiometric they will just go from rich to lean all the time, so at least they give you an idea of whats going on.
the wideband however will give you a real time reading of exactly what your AFR is, the trouble is they are pricey, your looking at about 130quid for the AEM gauge (about the cheapest), wideband sensors need an inteligent controller to interfave to ecu's and gauges which is built into the AEM gauge, There are other widebands that dont have the gauge such as the innovate LC1, I had an innovate an had lots of issues with it so moved to a gauge type.
Youve probably already guessed, but I know my way round the MS fairly well as I have one on my car, so we should be able to get you up and running
