hi, i would not let it put you off most minis have rust and if its only the sills a few plats should cost £50-£100 in a small garage

They rust holes or jack holes?

As a Mini does have holes for jacks on the sills.

Assuming they are not the jacking points, holes in the outer sills mean new sills are needed - and not those dreadful 'oversills'.
But if the outer sills have rust, check everywhere else where rust is common, and that's about everywhere else!
In particular check:

Front panel under the headlights
Front wings under the headlights and at the rear edges
Front scuttle panel at ends and un der lower screen edge
A-panels (in front of each door)
Inner front wings, especially at the rear end wherre the dooors bolt through
At the rear ends of the back seat side bins where the inner sills, outer sills, and rear heelboard meet
The boot floor
The rear valence, especially where the rear fog lamp bolts through
The rear sub-frame mounting points

Really just look everywhere for rust as if the rust is hidden or not spotted it can easily cost over £1000 for a body re-build plus painting/finishing, assuming you can't do all the work yourself.

Im a mobile welder. Specialise in classic cars and inparticular Minis. A few little holes is nothing out of the ordinary for Mini of this age. I dont recommend plating over the rust though. In my experience it will just come back worst than ever. Been to a Mini before that had the original sill, plus two oversills over that and more patches over them. What a mess that was! Cut it all out, and replaced it with a genuine outer sill, plus inner sill repairs.
I would replace the whole sill for a genuine sill, plus some small inner sill repairs for around 110, including the panel. The cost depends on the distance you are from me, but once i knew that i can give you a fixed quote.
PM me if you would like any more information. Or email [email protected]

Check in the rear companion bins for rust as they can give a good indication of what the sills will be like inside.

It's a Mini so check EVERYWHERE for rust!
A young lady who went to school with my Grandson, bought a 998 Mayfair for £3000 then a couple of small rust holes led to a bill of £1500 to fit the new panels needed to correct the rust issues.

..you see, minis are built from rust.. what you should be on the look out for is real metal!.. there are some places it hides but you have to look carefully. :)
