Disconnect the audio related wiring from the main loom so I can patch some bits up after misguided decisions ?
Any help is appreciated

yes, in short.

but the way you have "hacked" into the loom will depend on how you repair it, but more often then not i tend to (as tech and not auto sparks) is where ever i have cut into the loom is cut a clean break between the original wires slide a small bit of heat shrink over one end, solder back together then slide the heat shrink over the join and heat it up to shrink and seal.

but as i have said depends on how you have hacked into the loom :) :)

you can buy a small selection box of the stuff from maplins for all different size cables... just make sure you have the doors open and you have as much room to play with as possible as the fumes are not very nice and you dont want to drop the soldering iron on you or your car!... it F**KING hurts! lol

as Minilester recommends, soldered & heatshrink is the best/safer option (more secure than crimped connectors...definitely more secure than 'twist 'n' tape'!)

If you can, get hold of the old tin/lead solder, the new 'lead-free' solder is horrible to use.

... takes little getting use to after using the the old stuff for so long... but as long as you "tin" the ends of each wire 1st and then solder them together it should go without a hitch!

.. please dont ever twist and tape.. or i'll hunt you down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
