I started yesterday morning, woke up with stomach pains, then the vomiting started, couldn't stop. I must have been sick about 10 times, really nasty, couldn't keep anything down. Then the aches and pains started, headache, backache then a fever.

Feeling much better today but my neighbour's just been round and they have all had it too and now their mum and dad have got it!!

Nope, Try and drink water, slowly, Vomiting will make you really de-hydrated & you will just continually feel worse if you dont drink ^^

I've had it a couple of times over the last few years. Not a lot you can do about it really - drink water and don't stray too far from the loo. Both times it went through the family like wildfire so do your best to stay away from everyone you can making sure you wash your hands thoroughly. From what I was told you are most infectious for around 12 hours immediately before the symptoms start and a further 12 hours after they subside but there are umpteen variations of the virus so there will likely be lots of slight variations in the symptoms and how they affect any given individual.

Unfortunately you also don't build up a long term immunity so it's entirely possible to get it again next time it goes around.

Yeah, i got it christmas day.

I got up, ate breakfast thinking i was just starving/had trapped wind, then proceeded to throw up constantly and violently all day for the next 12 hours or so. Could barely sit up let alone stand up.

I think its been going round lately again, i hope i dont get it again.

All i can say is, i feel your pain.

I think my driving instructor had it too because he had to cancel my last lesson on those grounds.

Well the bile that came up in one go was about 1/3 of a large sink!!! I didnt think you had that much bile in your body. I think total in 1 day was 1/2 sink of bile!!! :)

Aaah it sounds like you've had a little brush with staf. Staf refers to a huge group of bacteria but specifically I mean the little chap that loves to live on human skin and especially around ears and noses. We all have some of it, it's everywhere and it's the same stuff that can develop into MRSA. It can have many exotic effects on our bodies if it gets into places we aren't protected from it. The way it causes food poisoning is by secreting a goup of toxins as it feeds. So if it gets into your food and secretes toxins, it doesn't matter how well you cook the stuff because the toxins are still there even if the staf is dead. They are really agressive and it doesn't take much to kick off a severe attack. As said above it often starts with bloating and you will get bigger and bigger for a couple of hours, around 6 hours after ingesting the toxin. Then there will be 10-12 hours of the worst time of your life with continuous violent D&V, and then if you have survived (which is fairly likely if you are a strong adult in a first world country) there will be a couple of days of wishing you hadn't. Because it's a toxin it's not contageous but often appears so because we tend to eat together in groups and eat the same food. I've had a couple of battles with it and I can't think of a less enjoyable experience. There are viral infections and stuff that are similar obviously and you might have one of those but if it resolves itself this quickly and you aren't otherwise unwell it's pretty likely to be the staf enterotoxin at work. Your body is trying to expel the toxin and since its not actually alive and breeding in you its easy to clear. Just painful.

Sounds like a good summary!

My Mrs also has been affected but in some distinctly different ways. She did not have any vomiting at all but she had a very bloated stomach and then she started burping bad egg smells (yak!!) which must be some sort of sulphurous compounds and also very bad D, which i did not have at all. I agree it has to be about the most painful thing i have ever had and 1 night seems to be about 1 month!! I am pretty much ok now apart from getting breakouts of mild fever, Mrs is also back on her feet too :)

Back to the garage for more Mini'ing YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
