Revering lights come on with 2nd 4th and possibly reverse, never selected gears whilst engine running since I've owned it.
Which way is the rod supposed to be within the selector? Could it be the rod is upside down? Does that make sense? I think I had it upside down to begin with and swapped it round as it was not selecting at all to begin with, but I had a quick shift fitted then and I've just taken it off as it was a bit too good at what it says on the tin and couldn't always tell which gear was what when selecting. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There should be a lock nut to keep the switch from moving too.

im pretty sure the further you screw it in it will make contact with the other gears which would make the circuit complete and light the rear, so basicly just need to screw it in until it reaches reverse then your golden.

All sorted now, thanks it was exactly that. Reverse isn't as definite when selecting as my old mini, you can't feel it like the other gears but I suppose that's a problem for another day.
