i need to make a custom steering column with uj's etc as i have change the position of the steering wheel. does any one know where i can get splined stubs to weld in a tube?

also what is the spline type on the steering rack as i need to get some uj's to fit this.

i have looked on car builders and they sell splined shaft but it seems like a waste as i will need to cut these down and they only have one splined end and i need more than one. also the ujs are to big for my application i need slim line ones.

Why not make a sleeve instead of splines. Use a suitable pin or bolt going through the inner column and outer sleeve?

Z-Cars sell one, but I have just had a look at the price and they are about £300.

I've heard early fiesta UJs are the correct spline.  How true this is I don't know.

I've seen some specs somewhere, probably on here. Afraid I can't remember, but I do recall it's common to many cars and the same as one of the aftermarket UJ's.

A scrapyard raid with a hacksaw is probably your best bet

Isn't there a problem with welding steering components?

IIRC it's an MOT fail?

I could easily be wrong...

Slimline. Why not just consault an engineer and figure out if cross bolting is a viable option. No welding needed then.

Also these guys

And more treasure from a cursory internet search.
