Hey guys

The people who are doing the welding\spraying on my rebuild have suggested getting new seam strips. Can anyone recommend a good place to get them from cost\quality\fit wise as I've been told they vary wildly in how well they fit.

Thanks
Andy.

I got some nice stainless steel ones from minispares good fit and wont rust! also before i fitted them i sprayed the shell with primer then popped the seams on then i used paintable seam sealer to seal them along the sides and top and bottom to stop the water getting in behind them then i primed with my 2nd coat, might be worth thinking about HTH Greg

I did have the seam strips for a year or two, but they started rusting and I didn't want chrome ones, so I bought roof gutter trim instead and plan to fit them on.

Just another option for you ;)

If the car is still to be painted, have them put a bead of weld right down edge of the seam, round the edge off and then smooth them off with a little filler. Only viable if the car is being painted though, takes a little more effort but well worth it in the long term

The seam trims now are the wrong shape and still gather dirt and rust. You are better off without them.

Some fit better than others but they all trap dirt and moisture. I spray a little white lithium grease along both sides of the metal lip before I fit them in order it to help protect it, then take I them off and clean away all the grime and moisture regularly to prevent rust.

As for a supplier always try Phoenix Supplies for any trim that you need for a classic mini. Their trim is as good as you will find anywhere else and their prices are pretty hard to beat too! :)
