Hi there, I have done this recently and didn't need or even question whether there was a tool for this.

Getting the old bush can be a bit fiddly, especially if like mine, your bush has pulverised into a million pieces.

If you do find that you are having trouble, try and find a piece of piping or something semi-rigid that will fit inside the steering column and give it a gentle tap with a hammer to locate the bush into place.

I had to do that with one of my mates mini's.

I hope that is of some help.

Is this a fairly easy job? What's involved when changing the steering column bushes? Does the steering rack need to come out?

Hi nakes, no not hard at all really, no need to remove the steering rack, just the steering column

its best to follow a haynes or service manual but basically you undo the bottom column bolt, top bracket bolt, column shroud screws, unplug the wire connector, undo the steering wheel bolt using THIS socket, undo anything else i have probably forgotten and then your ready to change the top plastic bush and the felt bottom one, but follow the manual if you have not done it

Thanks Lewis... I'll give that a try and I'll refer to the good'ol haynes if I run into any problems...

Can you replace the upper bush without removing the column from the car?
