1991 Mini Cooper (MG Metro engine)
My tacho (rev meter) is not reading correctly. I have had a snap on timing light on it, that read correctly i presume while my clock didnt.
Could anyone shine any light on any common faults or where about to check?
Regards
Thomas

Anyone?
Have you checked the wires and connections for it on the back?
I found that there is a little pin type thing that the tacho wire plugs into at the back on the tacho that was loose so i took it apart and tightened it up and it was working great again.

What gauge are you using? And whats "not reading correctly"
wrong revs to what your reading? erractic jumping? did you buy the gauge seperately? taken the needle off to change the fascia beforehand?

Cheers guys. The revs are steady and not erratic but reading below what they should be. I'll check it out soon, haven't had chance with the weather being the way it is.

The needles do pop off quite easily with the aid of a fork, could just pop them of and move it round and bit.

Isn't there an adjustment screw on the rear to do this? The needles do pop off quite easily with the aid of a fork, could just pop them of and move it round and bit.
