The aircraft type ones are good but so are the traditional snips. I got my sykes pickavant ones 22 years ago and there still good and the aircraft ones, think they were sp ones went in the bin recently. Pay good money for your tools and they'll last, i should know as i still buy cheap ******* now and again and still swear when i throw them in the bin after no time!

There ok for cutting tin, but don’t expect them to be too great on anything else.

I reckon the the "aircraft" style snips are really for aluminium (no surprise really) cut steel and you will need to sharpen them, so much easier with pucka old snips.

I've got some halfords ones, granted they've not had a huge amount of use but they cut through 1.2mm steel with ease and i've not had a problem with them

I have used Gibo's for cutting Ali, steel, stainless steel and thin Titanium all on Aircraft work. They are very good but you also need to know the limitations as to how thick a material they will cut.

I have had several pairs over the years and all performed very well. I have also had the Straight, left and right hand cut types of snips/shears and to be honest the Gilbo's out performed them for cutting although the more ergonomic grips on the other types make for more comfortable cutting.
