Hi All,

I have done a search on this and followed some advice I have found here and elsewhere on the internet but need some more help please.

I have got a shell thats floor is fibreglass and finished in a gel coat. I want to protect the underside from stones etc and know exactly what I want and have seen it on many cars. Im sure it comes on new cars as standard.

It looks like a black rubberised coating, and is quite thick, you can stick your fingernail in it and make a dent, thats how soft and thick it is.

Now I have painted the underside with Waxoyl underseal link which says "one coat heavy duty protection, remains flexible, protects from stone chips". So I thought, right thats what I want. Painted the whole underside a week ago and still not dry. Also its not thick or flexible, its just like Ive painted it black.

So today I exchanged the second tin I had and after many reviews I bought this instead link Ive covered the front end and had the same results, its just resembles paint.

Does anyone know where I can buy some proper thick rubber coating, or advise a garage where I can get this done please? The majority of them are obviously meant for steel shells as they contain waxoyl to prevent rust, whereas I dont have that problem, I just want to have a coating that will prevent chips.

Can someone help please?

Thanks very much for reading.

I coated the underside of Lulu with this. (tetroseal underbody sealant).

I don't think you can paint over it though. Needs to be warm to spread easily so may not be suitable for spraying.
